Pie festival The Great American Pie Festival, sponsored by the American Pie Council, will be at Lakeside Park in Celebration from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. Sunday. Events include an all-you-can-eat Never Ending Pie Buffet, pie-baking competition, cooking demonstrations, pie-eating contest, games and crafts. Admission is free. The Never Ending Pie Buffet is $8 for adults, $6 for those 65 or older and $4 for those 12 or younger. Earth Day *Celebrate Earth Day from 9 a.m. to noon today and Friday at Historic Bok Sanctuary in Lake Wales. More than 1,200 students are expected to attend the two-day event that features hands-on activities offered by environmental exhibitors from Central Florida. Advance registration is recommended, but everyone is welcome. The fee for students and chaperons is $5 and includes general sanctuary admission. Details: 863-676-1408. Activities include butterfly face painting, ladybug release, water cycle activities and ancient artifact exhibits. Visitors are invited to the Bok Butterfly House, and exhibits will demonstrate how to create a backyard wildlife habitat, raise earthworms for composting and identify animal tracks. *Earth Day is a downtown celebration in Haines City. Check at the Main Street booth on Court Street in historic downtown for an event map and kids stamp book. Events include a kiddie train, face paining, bath salt art, pony rides, school performances at 2 p.m., and a human checkers game between the Haines City Fire Department and the Police Department at noon. The Health Chic House, 12 N. Fifth St., will have activities from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday. Herbalist Lee Butler will discusss the herbal approach to healthy living at 1 p.m. Florida Yards and Neighborhoods will have a rain barrel workshop from 10 to 11 a.m., composting workshop from 11 a.m. to noon, organic gardening workshop from noon to 1 p.m. and landscaping with native plants from 2 to 3 p.m. Also, South by Southwest will offer free short classes on starting an herb garden and beneficial bugs. La Fiesta Mexicana will present a mariachi band from 6 to 9 p.m., and Zook’s Cafe will put on a garden party at 5 p.m.
