From exclusive live concerts to online previews of as yet unreleased albums, MTV in Canada’s partnership with Rogers Wireless is promising even more multi-platform access to popular music and related content.
Under a co-branded arrangement, Rogers and MTV will present new music oriented programming online and on TV, including:
“New technology has unleashed our audience’s demand for more – more content, more occasions to watch it, listen to it, interact with it, make it themselves, customize it, and share it,” said Brad Schwartz, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Much MTV Group, CTV Inc. “Our partnership with Rogers gives fans and music lovers access to their favourite content across multiple platforms – on TV, online, in person, on their cell phones, and on VOD. Research shows that engagement is increased in the minds of our audience when media and advertising embrace multiple platforms at the same time…and that is exactly what this partnership is all about!”
“Rogers Wireless is synonymous with youth and music, offering the latest innovations today’s youth want in mobile music,” added John Boynton, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Rogers Wireless. “Our partnership with MTV fits perfectly with our strategy to enable what matters most to youth - their friends and passion for music - by offering the all-access pass to the hottest and latest on multiple platforms.”
Rogers Presents MTV Live at The Concert Hall kicked off with performances from Panic at the Disco and Sam Roberts on May 15. Taped at MTV’s legendary Masonic Temple, it was the first of a series of concert events exclusive to MTV fans and Rogers Wireless customers. A nationwide contest gave one lucky Canadian, and five of their friends, the chance to attend the concert along with an all expense paid trip to Toronto.
MTV in Canada also launched a multi-platform broadcast and online campaign to support the concert and provide Canadians with the opportunity to experience the live concerts when they want on whatever device they want to use.
The first of two 30-minute specials, MTV Live at The Concert Hall: Sam Roberts, is scheduled to air on CTV on Saturday, May 24 at 12 midnight ET, while MTV Live at The Concert Hall: Panic at the Disco will air the following week on Saturday, May 31 at 12 midnight ET. MTV in Canada’s flagship interactive series, MTV Live, featured performance highlights from the concert in the weeks following the event. The show will also be available on Rogers Video On Demand and Rogers Wireless customers can access select live tracks on the go with their Rogers Vision phone. As well, MTV’s broadband site at mtv.ca features the entire concert on-demand including extra bonus tracks.
